Georges River Council has voted down a motion calling for traffic action on John Street in Kogarah Bay.
The motion, moved by Councillor Gow and seconded by Councillor Anzalotti, asked council to reconsider its position on traffic action, to conduct community engagement with John Street residents, and to assess line markings, signage or other traffic calming devices within six months.
"I was out there on Saturday talking to people."
The council then took the vote and the motion was lost.
A motion on minimising gambling harm by implementing the Murphy Report was carried. Councillor Marnie said Georges River ranks among the highest in poker machine losses, with more than 80 million dollars wasted in the third quarter of 2025, and that online gambling is a widespread problem that needs action from the federal government.
The council also carried a motion on protecting Glenlee at 80 Boronia Pd Lugarno, following an amendment to write to the Minister for Indigenous Australians about the likely presence of Aboriginal artefacts on the site and to notify her if a development application is lodged.
The meeting closed at 8.48pm. Councillors with further questions were asked to submit them through the hub, with answers to be provided in a future business paper.
