Georges River Council has moved ahead with a concept design for the Quarry Reserve precinct that upgrades tennis facilities and adds pickleball courts. The plan comes after the design went out to the community for consultation.

A report by the manager of city technical services set out the project's background. The review examined an upgrade of the existing racquet sports infrastructure and an expansion that includes pickleball courts.

Councillor Lansbury said the change was welcome, recalling that the courts were once run by a tennis school.

The concept design is the next step before any future works.

In a separate item, the council received a report on the Local Transport Forum meeting held on 26 August 2026. A resident of Edward Street, Carlton, Heidi Breeze, made a submission supporting proposed safety improvements to Edward Street and the intersection of Edward Street and Colburn Avenue.

The resident said she had spoken with residents on both sides of Edward Street and had not encountered one who opposed the speed humps. She also said residents understood a roundabout was not practical due to engineering constraints, including road width, turning movements, existing services, Ausgrid infrastructure, parking and significant cost.

The council also received an internal review of its synthetic sports fields in response to the New South Wales Chief Scientist and Engineer's review into synthetic turf and subsequent state guidance. The report covered fields at Pecos Park, Fulton Park and Penzers Park Sporting Hub.

The review found the three synthetic fields remain fit for purpose, continue to provide significant sporting capacity and play an important role in meeting current and future demand for organised sport across the Georges River area. The meeting ended at 7 PM, with the chair thanking everyone for their attendance.
